Abruzzo Hills
It seems that every element of the terroir has been put there for a reason: it is an invisible machine that, season after season, transforms the grapes into little treasure chests. The treasure kept? A flavour that is out of the ordinary, authentic, surprisingly intense. In the vineyards of Tenuta Ulisse there is a whole territory that is an expression of biodiversity, history and culture.
The territory
Montepulciano
A noble native vine, a great interpreter of its territories of origin, ductile and generous. Five-lobed leaves and late ripening allow a great accumulation of sugary and phenolic substances. Red grape variety, expression of power and elegance, king of the Abruzzo tradition
Trebbiano
A native white berry of Abruzzo, hardy, vigorous and expressive. Large pentagonal leaves, juicy berries, September ripening. Autonomous in management, delicate in varietal expression, long-lived as a general characteristic.
Pecorino
Ancient variety, rediscovered, valorized, and today much loved. Cluster shape reminiscent of the sheep's head from which it takes its name. Great biological capacity, able to accumulate sugar, without degrading acidity, to ripen between the end of August and September and to concentrate on its small berries, a remarkable quantity of aromas, which make this variety an absolute champion.
Passerina
Almost shy in budding, it makes itself wait and be desired in the initial phase, then takes courage and shows itself with its penta-lobed leaves with V-shaped petiolar sinus and overlapping lobes. The grapes are round, large and yellow, almost luminous in the soft light that passes through the vines. Idea of freshness and pleasantness, mix of acidity and sweetness.
Cococciola
Double attitude, table and wine. Large round berries, covered with bloom outside, lots of sugar and acidity inside. It ripens slowly, preserving the aromas, appreciable on the grapes and joyful expression in still or sparkling wine.
